THE DYING INDUSTRY IN TAMIL NADU
3rd April 2013, Kallipatti Village, Tamil Nadu, India. Polluted water with green algae, possibly caused by effluent runoff from local dyeing plants in a river between Bhavani and Erode on the 3rd April 2013 in Tamil Nadu, India.
Since the explosion of the dyeing industry in Tamil Nadu between 1986 and 1989 when factory numbers soared from 99 to 450 the state has seen dramatic degradation of its rivers and water sources. Local activism continues to monitor and highlight the ongoing environmental impact
