7th March 2013, Meethapur, New Delhi, India. Julie Kumari (right, 17, TB patient) takes her medication given by Amit Saxena (left, 20, a Community Health Worker) after giving her finger print scan at the Operation ASHA field office in Meethapur, New Delhi, India on the 7th March 2013. The scanner is part of NGO 'Operation ASHA's unique tech-based methodology to ensure patients complete their medication courses and
patients are treated outside to minimise the chance of infection being passed to others. India is the TB capital of the world and also has a reputation for various forms of drug resistant TB strains like MDR (Multiple Drug Resistant), TDR (Total Drug Resistant) etc, caused by impoverished patients not completing drug regimens due to work pressure.
